F&G is currently assisting a reputable IT company that is seeking a Junior Database Administrator to join their Data Solutions team in Cape Town.

Responsibilities:

• Install and setup databases
• Configure databases
• Monitor databases
• Backup and restore databases
• Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business’s Recovery
• Point Objectives (RPO)
• Test backups to ensure we can meet the business’ Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)
• Assist developers with performance tuning
• Setup and deploy database object change scripts as requested from developers and
• third party vendors
• Document the company’s database environment

Requirements:

• Diploma in IT
• Good knowledge of database technologies
• MySQL on Linux is the main requirement for this position
• Basic knowledge of relational databases
• 1-3 years DBA experience, previous development experience will be beneficial
• Competencies required: good time management skills, detail orientation, good
• administrative skills, stress tolerance, analytical abilities

Salary: R300 000 – R350 000 p/a
