A growing company on the East Rand is seeking an IT Technician to join the team. 

Computers

1. Install and configure Windows 10 on company computers.
2. Assemble desktop computers for company when required.
3. Change RAM and Hard Drives in Laptop computers.
4. Install software on computers.
5. Troubleshoot issues on computers.

Servers

1. Monitor servers on a daily basis.
2. Swap out external back-up drives on a daily basis.
3. Setup and deploy Virtual machines.
4. Configure and manage file servers.

Office365

1. Add, Manage and delete users on the Office365 admin centre.
2. Assign licences to users and devices.
3. Review quarantined items in the security centre.
4. Perform message trace
5. Ensure security of Office36

Active Directory

1. Add, Manage and delete users on Active Directory.
2. Create and manage organisational units.
3. Ensure users have appropriate permissions to perform their tasks.
4. Add computers to Active Directory.
5. Add devices to Active Directory via LDAP.

Linux

1. Install various Linux distributions on desktops and servers.
2. Install software via Graphical user interface and terminal.
3. Basic understanding of the terminal and commands.
4. Troubleshoot issues on Linux systems.

Network

1. Understanding of wired and wireless networks.
2. Basic understanding of fibre optic networks and components.
3. View, modify and reserve IP addresses on DHCP server.
4. Manage Wireless Access Points throughout the company.
5. Add devices to the Wireless Access Points.
6. Install and maintain network cables and network points.
7. Manage and monitor company network to ensure optimum performance.

VOIP

1. Setup and maintain VOIP telephones and devices within the company.
2. Deal with company VOIP provider.
3. Troubleshoot issues related to VOIP phones.

Mobile devices

1. Configure and manage Mobile devices such as Android and Apple IOS for the company.
2. Manually configure networking (if required)
3. Install apps on mobile devices when required.
4. Troubleshoot devices.

Security

1. Understand current best practice regarding Cyber Security.
2. Ability to spot Phishing attacks.
3. Follow least privileges principal.
4. Ensure security software is working on all endpoints.
5. Monitor Endpoint software on a daily basis.
6. Apply updates and patches to fix vulnerabilities in devices.
7. Implement and maintain security measures to protect data, software and hardware.
8. Configure, maintain and monitor company CCTV system.

Printers

1. Install, configure and maintain Multifunction Printers.
2. Monitor cartridge and toner levels.
3. Troubleshoot these devices.

Assets

1. Ensure IT equipment is locked up especially portable devices like laptops and monitors.
2. Ensure spare or unused equipment is stored away.
3. Maintain an asset register of all IT equipment.
4. Maintain an asset register for software and licences.

Project Management

1. Monitor and attend to issues via the helpdesk.
2. Complete projects and tasks within a deadline.
3. Communicate and follow up with suppliers to ensure they deliver within deadlines.
4. Prioritise important tasks.
