IT support engineers, also known as technical support engineers, provide technical support for clients experiencing hardware, software, and networking issues. On-site job role to assist with software installations, network failures, hardware malfunctions, and other IT related issues.

We are looking to hire a skilled IT support engineer to assist our team with all IT related technical support issues. Reporting to the IT Manager the IT support engineer will support users via logged tickets to determine the nature of the problem, diagnose hardware or software issues, provide effective assistance, and maintain strong user relationships. You will also be required to install new software applications such as SAGE Evolution and train clients on proper application use.

To ensure success as an IT support engineer, you should have in-depth knowledge of business software and hardware systems, excellent troubleshooting skills, network cabling repairs, camera equipment maintenance and high-level interpersonal skills.

Ultimately, a top-class IT support engineer resolves all IT issues quickly and effectively while maintaining a good relationship with the client.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Installing and configuring client computer systems.
  • Responding to client IT support requests/tickets.
  • Meeting with users to diagnose software, networking, or hardware issues.
  • Providing technical support on-site.
  • Offering solutions that meet the needs of your manager & the users
  • Repairing hardware malfunctions, software issues, and networking problems such as cabling & camera faults.
  • Providing Hands & Feet support onsite
  • Maintaining good user relations.
  • Tracking and managing work records.
  • Compiling job reports & keeping asset record up to date.

Join Weekly meetings with your manager to track ticket & SLA progress

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or Microsoft Certified IT Professional Certification (MCITP/MCP/MCTS)
  • Additional Certification Required
    • A+ Hardware & Software
    • N+ Networking
    • ITIL Foundation
  • Proven work experience as a technical support engineer.
    • (3 Years’ Experience MIN)
  • Knowledge of computer hardware, and networking systems.
  • Knowledge of web services, and IP-based protocols.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to think critically, willing to learn & implement.
  • Able to take responsibility & ownership of your on-site tickets & assist Head Office users remotely when required, depending on ticket volume.
  • Driver’s License & Car
    • Travel to Head Office in Midrand for project work & support tickets when required.
