To attend to site based emergency calls, provide medical care in line with scope of practice. Provide access to rescue services by responding to scenes of mine accidents, disasters or other emergency incidents in the geographical boundaries of the site operations.



Ambulance Emergency Assistant Certificate, Accredited qualifications (applicable unit standards) in the following disciplines: LMVR (Light motor vehicle rescue)  Rope rescue Level 1 and Level  2  Hazmat Operations

For certain rescue positions, we require verifiable and accredited (applicable unit standards) rescue training in:

  • Trench Rescue
  • Confined Space Rescue
  • Structural Collapse Rescue
  • Machinery Rescue
  • Aquatic Rescue
  • Fire fighter I and II
  • High Angle rescue I
  • Hazmat Awareness
  • Aviation Fire Fighting and Rescue


Advanced Certificate in Rescue ,Accredited (applicable unit standards) rescue training in: High Angle II, Pump Operations Trench, Industrial and Structural Collapse Rescue, MIMMS (Major Incident Medical Management and Support), Aviation Open and Shift Water Rescue, Fire inspector.



ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE : 2-3 years operational ILS experience with verifiable rescue experience as a fire fighter

DESIRED EXPERIENCE: 5 years operational ILS experience with verifiable rescue experience as a fire fighter

Successful completion of training related to Clinical Practice Guidelines published by the Health Professions Council of South Africa will be advantageous. If not compliant with the clinical practice guidelines at the time of application you will be required to complete this training during your probation period if successful in your application.


Ensure operational readiness for emergency calls

Provide Rescue and Emergency Medical service as required

Administer patient care in line with scope of practice

Complete patient and incident reports timeously, completely and accurately

Attend and conduct training and participate in monthly base meeting

Keep physically and medically fit to perform duties

Provide professional emergency services to site-based clients and the general public and local community

Provide basic shift administration services

Compliance with medical and physical requirements
EMS and Rescue environment
Facilities, travel routes and demographical area
Handling and use of equipment, stock and vehicles
HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice
Proficiency in the English language (written and verbal)
Relevant legislation i.e. Minerals act and the Mine Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996
