Our client in the mining industry and based on the East Rand is looking to hire a Components Foreman to join their forever growing and expanding business and team.

The Components Foreman will report into the Production Manager. The Components Foreman will be responsible to oversee control and ensure that all work done on the component is in line with statutory regulations and company quality standards. Provide on-the-job training and guidance to the employees and oversee the Component Shop in line with company quality procedures and health and safety requirements. 

Conduct inspections on components and machines daily.

Duties & Responsibilities

Planning: plan, organise, lead and control the day-to-day activities of the component shop to ensure that this maintained in line with the various employment, health and safety, factory and work rules in accordance with the workshop objectives and instructions.

Compile, co-ordinate and list the bills of materials required for each rebuild and new machine manufactured at all times.

Co-ordinate the production in the component shop daily according to the available resources.

Ensure the component work is done within the time period prescribed, cost effectively, and evaluate the job progress by assisting work as well as employees required and report any material or labour requirements to the Workshop Manager.

Support the Workshop Manager in demonstrating continuous effort improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work co-operatively and jointly to provide quality output at work at all times.

Repair/maintenance and breakdowns

Reporting:  Report the progress of jobs and highlight areas of concern to the Workshop Manager immediately.

Quality control

Receiving reports


Final inspection reports

Tool and equipment maintenance

Customer complaints

Training and development

Guidance: Assist employees with personal and team concerns, while referring those issues for which company facilitation is required to the Human Resources department.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualified in relevant trade: Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic

Minimum of 5 years experience in machine assembly

Computer literate and conversant with MS Office

Hydraulic knowledge

Mining industry knowledge

Customer focus and liaison 

Management experience


Soft skills:

Fluent in English

Excellent written and verbal skills in English

Excellent communication skills

Strong leadership skills

Ability to work under pressure

Ability to work independently

Responsible and reliable in meeting deadlines and targets (deadline and target driven)
